ADHD On The Road
Are people with ADHD bad drivers?
You know that Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder makes it harder to pay attention, ignore distractions, and stay focused on what you’re doing.
That can be annoying when you’re trying to tidy the house, finish a work report, or follow a conversation.
When you’re driving, the statistics from numerous studies are clear; it’s beyond annoying. ADHD can be dangerous, or worse, deadly.
The only way it could be riskier is if you’re on the phone. Hand-held or hands-free, it doesn’t matter. What’s even more treacherous? Texting or posting on social media while you’re trying to control a ton or two of steel, glass, and flammable gasoline. We know it’s not safe.
But so many of us do it anyway. Gambling with their lives, and the lives of their passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians.
Here are the facts, plus a couple of simple actions you can take to eliminate the risk and ensure you and everyone else arrive alive.
