“You can’t have ADHD because…

… you have a university degree.

Or:

… you run a hugely successful business.
… you have accomplished so much.
… you have won all kinds of awards.
… you are a leader in your community.

Just because someone has been successful in one or two areas of life doesn’t meant they cannot have ADHD.

What it does mean is that they’ve probably had to work a lot harder, struggle longer, and fail more often than neurotypical folks who have enjoyed similar success.

They’ll be the first to tell you they had lucky breaks, supportive parents and partners, and wise mentors who kept them on track.
