I Succeeded with ADHD
Here’s What Made the Difference
In a comment on a previous video, someone asked how I managed to succeed in producing so many videos and earning various degrees, despite having Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
I answered her question by recording a short video called Make a List, that lifted the curtain and revealed that my ‘successes’ were dwarfed by the number of unsuccessful things I had tried, started, botched up, or abandoned after losing interest.
But the fact is. I have had numerous successes: The Red Green Show, History Bites, Prisoners of Gravity, and The Frantics comedy troupe. All before I knew I had ADHD! Even my diagnosis led to another success, the documentary ‘ADD & Loving It?!‘.
How did I do it?
I didn’t. It took teams of people. Creative people. People who bought into each project and contributed their talents, including acting, writing, sound, lighting, cameras, costumes, makeup, hairstyling, accountants, and producers, as well as location managers.
Success is a group activity. These days, my wife Ava and I handle all of the production, David Riddles handles all the behind-the-scenes web stuff, and instead of a television network or an executive producer, we’re funded by our supporters through Patreon.
Thanks to my generous Patrons I am still producing new videos.
