The Value of Celebrating Success
“When I finally overcome my procrastination and actually finish a task, I don’t feel pleased or proud. Just relieved.”
That comment from a Patron resonated with me. I spent many years scrambling to finish things and never pausing to acknowledge the success. All I could see was what needed to be done next, the next looming deadline or unfinished task.
I rarely paused to savour or celebrate the success. Just, “Phew. Thank goodness thats over with.”
It’s a common feeling with ADHD. Is it any wonder we procrastinate when we don’t stop to see what we’ve accomplished?
The solution for me has been to pause and appreciate a job well done, whether it was finishing a season of television or tidying the kitchen counters.
