Overwhelmed by ADHD

While a lot of success-driven, highly motivated neurotypical folks are “aiming for the top,” those of us overwhelmed by ADHD are aiming to load the dishwasher without getting distracted. “Feeling overwhelmed” becomes our default mode.

Those Self-Help gurus who chant, “Live Your Best Life,” don’t have a neurodevelopmental disorder that makes it hard to get started, to keep going, to stay on task and be consistent.

My suggestion? Take the pressure off. Do what you can. And rather than ‘seizing the day,’ you could simply enjoy it. Rather than focusing on all the things you didn’t get done, notice what you did accomplish. Or even better, just enjoy the day without judging, measuring, or comparing.
